IELTS Band 9 vocabulary includes higher level of collocations. Collocation means the combination of vocabularies formed when two or more words are repeatedly used together in a way that sounds correct: For exam the phrase “a hard frost” is a collocation, it means both the air and the ground freeze.
9 Band Vocabulary: Collocation with ABILITY
Verb + Ability
for example: have ability, show ability etc.
Have/ possess (থাকা), Show (প্রদর্শন করা), improve (উন্নত করা), Lack (অভাব), Enhance/ maximize (বৃদ্ধি করা), affect (প্রভাবিত করা), doubt (সন্দেহ করা), lose (হারানো), assess (মুল্যায়ন করা).
Way to practice: Have ability, possess ability etc.
9 Band Vocabulary: Collocation with ABILITY (Adjective + ability)
For example: He has innate ability to tackle worse situation.
Nouns: Faith (বিশ্বাস, আস্থা) in sb’s ability. For example, do you have every faith in her ability to finish the work on time?
Phrases: a wide range of abilities. For example, I taught a wide range of abilities.
Adjective + ability:
natural/innate (স্বাভাবিক বা সহজাত), extraordinary (অসাধারণ), outstanding ( বিশিষ্ঠ), uncanny ( অস্বাভাবিক ), Proven (প্রমানিত), average (গড়পড়তা মান বা মধ্যমান), mixed (বিভিন্ন ধরনের বা মিশ্রিত), incredible (অবিশ্বাস্য), considerable (ব্যাপক)
Way to practice: for example: innate ability, extraordinary ability etc.
9 Band Vocabulary: Collocation with: ACTION (পদক্ষেপ/কাজ)
Verb + Action
Take (নেওয়া), Go into (যাওয়া), Leap into/ swing into/ spring into (লাফ দেওয়া, দোলা), galvanize/prod/spur sb into (কাওকে কিছু করতে উৎসাহিত করা), condone (ক্ষমা করা বা ক্ষতিপূরন করা), explain (ব্যাক্ষা করা), put sth into (কোনকিছু কাজে লাগানো), demand (দাবি করা)
Way to practice: Take action, go into action, leap into action etc.

Verbs + Advantage
Have (থাকা), take (নেওয়া), see (দেখা), give (দেওয়া), enjoy (উপভোগ করা), outweigh (ওজনে অধিকতর হওয়া), stress (গুরুত্ব দেওয়া), weigh up (কোন নিয়ে গভিরভাবে চিন্তিা করা)
Way to practice: HAVE advantage, take advantage, outweigh advantage, weigh up advantage etc.
